More Matings and Dances today!
The falcons start the day off with a mating on the steeple
Two more matings on the east veranda before the morning ends.
The falcons share a midday dance and Astrid stays to do a scrape and some housekeeping.
Astrid and Ares get busy at the end of the day – 3 matings in 45 minutes!!

Even though they seemed to get a late start, Astrid and Ares made up for lost time with plenty of matings, dances and more…
Astrid entices Ares to mate with her by doing ledge displays. She flies past the nest box while he is inside excitedly chirping.
The ledge displays must have done their job. Ares flies over to mate with Astrid while she is perched on the steeple only moments after her amazing flights.
The falcons weren’t ready to call it quits yet – one more mating!
Just when we thought they might settle down for the night they surprised us with a late dance!

As I am ready to post this, Astrid is currently sitting very still in the box. While we don’t expect her to lay an egg yet this is a very good indication that she is edging closer to producing her first egg.
Falcons celebrate the nice weather with matings and dances!
Astrid and Ares started the day off with two early matings
The two matings were only about 15 minutes apart!
They shared a couple of afternoon dances
And less than 30 minutes later they danced again!
Astrid and Ares showed no signs of slowing down – another mating around 530 PM
And they ended the evening with a 7pm dance!
