Astrid and Ares fend off Intruders and share bath time
Yesterday, October 30th, Astrid and Ares worked together to convince an intruding female peregrine to leave the territory. Astrid did most of the work, chasing the unwelcome visitor and actually engaging her in light battle.
Today, October 31st it was Ares turn to chase out an unwelcome raptor. Based on his reaction and alarm calls we assume the intruder was merely a passing hawk and not another peregrine.
Astrid and Ares later took advantage of the mild weather and enjoyed a nice community bath on the hotel ledge.

Ledge Display and Preening
Astrid and Ares shared a nice ledge display (dance) yesterday. They often share a dance after they have dealt with an intruder. They are very committed to the nest site even though it is not currently nesting season.
Ares loves to spend time at the nest preening. It is very important to keep their feathers in top flight condition at all times.
Astrid and Ares share a ledge display
Astrid and Ares celebrated the break in the rain, late this morning, with a dance in the box.
Astrid Enjoys the Afternoon Wind
Astrid spreads her wings and feels the wind. She seems to be acting like a young peregrine about to fledge!!
