At approximately 5:00 PM, Rue, the last chick to hatch and the smallest male of the clutch, became the first nestling of the 2019 season to fledge. Following a few failed attempts at landings, he ended up on a very low window ledge on the east face of the State Building. There he remained until dark. Astrid and Ares do know where he is although neither parent visited his ledge while we were monitoring. We expect that Rue will not try to fly again until tomorrow (Monday). Importatnly, as far as we can tell, he in uninjured.
