High Horse
He’s back on his high horse again
And riding home to Texas
He’s done the best he can, so let’s give that boy a hand
He’s back on his high horse again
Well, I’m humbled as a weary nation
Sets aside its reservations
Lifts its voices to the sky to bid that boy goodbye
And those of us who loved him best
Know that he has earned his rest
Now it’s time to park his boots and grab a weed to chaw
He’s back on his high horse again
And riding home to Texas
He’s done the best he can, so let’s give that boy a hand
He’s back on his high horse again
Well, people shouting awful loud
Almost like an angry crowd
Making gestures, wagging signs and showing him the door
Now hold on, folks, don’t crowd him so
Junior knows it’s time to go
And t’ain’t no need to point, that’s what them exit signs is for
He’s back on his high horse again
And riding home to Texas
He’s done the best he can, so let’s give that boy a hand
He’s back on his high horse again
Now all them folks is left behind
Suffering through the end of times
And we’ll just say that he’s some kind of rapture superman
He weren’t drove away from here
Jesus made him disappear
Be a good long time before you see his like again
He’s back on his high horse again
And riding home to Texas
He’s done the best he can, he’s our rapture superman
He’s back on his high horse again
Pack up boys, it’s closing time
Y’all don’t want to be left behind
On 01-21-09….
